It is important we get all of this figured out prior to event to guarantee everybody has a ride who needs it.  

We will meeting at church at 11:00.

WE WILL BE LEAVING CHURCH AT 11:20. NO EXCEPTIONS

Event is from 12:00-2:00 pm.

The event is being held at Jones Beach in main area of beach (in front of needle) on boardwalk and paths. Parking field 4 and 5 feed into main area and if taking bus we are in front of bus stop. If you are driving on your own you will need $10.00 for parking.

After event is a beach party from 2-4.

Calling it a beach party means a bunch of us will be on beach hanging out. Please bring appropriate/modest bathing suits, food or money if you plan to eat and anything else you need for a couple of hours at the beach. If you are looking for a ride to event only and not beach party please let us now ASAP and we can see what we can do about that.

If you are planning on bringing signs of your own please make sure that they are not graphic and that they are signs that are lifting up life as opposed to calling abortion and people who have abortions murder and murderers. This paticular event is geared to the display of life and focuses on the baby in the womb and that they are a life. We are not standing in front of a clinic. We are standing at Jones Beach where people are looking to have a nice day.

GETTING READY FOR THANKSGIVING

We don’t have youth group next week due to the fact it is the day before thanksgiving. So I wanted to share a recipe that sounded real good to me. It’s a turkey recipe that also includes the use of popcorn as a stuffing ingredient-imagine that. When I found this recipe, I thought it was perfect for people like me, who just are not sure how to tell when turkey is thoroughly cooked, but not dried out.

Give this a try.

1-15lb. Turkey

1-cup melted butter

1-cup stuffing (Pepperidge Farm is good)

1-cup un-pooped popcorn (Orville Redenbacher’s Low Fat is best)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Brush turkey well with melted butter, salt and pepper. Fill cavity with stuffing and popcorn. Place in baking pan making sure the neck is toward the front of the oven, not the back. After 4 hours listen for popping sounds. When the turkey’s butt blows the oven door open and the bird flies across the room,….it’s done.

And, you thought I didn’t cook… 

 This Wednesday is Crave.  Even though it’s not a regular youth group night, I want to encourage all Grounded and settled members to come out. We will be sitting together in the back left side of the church. This is a great opportunity to worship the Lord and get prayed over by the clergy of our Church.

On Wednesday November 10th we will be shooting a music video to help promote Grounded and Settled and also have a really fun time. We will be meating at 7:30 at the church and filming everything in the Parish Hall. This is the song we will be making the music video to.

On October 19th, 2010 thirty-five young adults, leaders, and parents gathered outside of Planned Parenthood in Hempstead, NY to stand in silent prayer to end abortion.  This vigil lasted from 4pm until 7pm.  At 4pm the people began to gather and hold signs in silence for an hour.  This was then followed the Liturgy at Time of Death for the Preborn lead by Alan Melanson.  After the liturgy was said, the sun began to set.  At which time, the group put on red glowing necklaces so that they could continue to be seen as they went back to silent prayer and protest until 7pm when the group dispersed after a closing prayer by Daniel Fowley.

During the time in front of Planned Parenthood, the group was encouraged by those driving by honking in approval as well as a few young adults walking by that asked what was going on and decided to join us in prayer!
